GIRLS' SNEAKERS: SPORTY SHOES WITH VERSATILE DESIGN
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping happily and the first flowers are sprouting from the ground: spring is coming. The cold, wet and grey winter days are over, and the thick boots can stay in the wardrobe from now on. Nature is waking up and children want to enjoy the increasingly warm temperatures and the spring sunshine outdoors. Now it's time for lighter shoes in fresh colours. And what could be better than a new pair of sneakers?
Sneakers are simply easy for girls to combine and always make an outfit look casual. They are ideal for children who move around a lot. These trendy casual shoes also have their origins in sport. In English, the word “sneaker” refers to any kind of sports shoe; in German the term is somewhat narrower and is mainly used for sporty shoes with flexible soles that are worn every day. You can still see that girls' sneakers started out as sports shoes – but thanks to chic styles with eye-catching appliqués or glittering stones, they can now also be worn glamorously with a smart dress or skirt.
Designer girls' sneakers – what types are there?
If you are looking for new sneakers, you will quickly notice that the choice of different types is quite large. For one thing, girls' trainers differ in material: leather trainers for girls are sturdier and more resistant than textile ones. They also get dirty less easily and can usually be cleaned with a damp cloth. Textile sneakers, however, are particularly light on the foot and have a lovely summery look. In most cases they can even be machine-washed, using a delicate cycle at a maximum of 40 degrees. It's best to put them in a laundry bag or an old pillowcase with a zip. But be careful: if the shoes have decorative elements, metal buckles or rhinestones, they must not go in the washing machine.
They are also available as low-cut shoes or in an ankle-high version. Ankle-high shoes generally offer better support. Especially for little ladies who are just learning to walk or are simply not yet so steady on their feet, sneakers should ideally enclose the ankles. For older girls, it is more a question of individual taste – or of the outfit the shoe is meant to go with.
Sneakers with hook-and-loop fastening are currently making a fashion comeback – no wonder teenage girls find them especially cool. The only thing that matters for primary school children is that they don't own only sneakers with hook-and-loop fastening: well over half of children this age do not yet have the motor skills to tie a bow.
The best-known sneaker designers
Almost all designers who carry shoes also offer sneakers in a wide range of versions. Whether unusual like BALENCIAGA or sporty like New Balance, adidas or Nike – the choice is entirely yours. Givenchy, for example, offers super-stylish sneakers with lots of glitter in gold and silver. Pure glamour! Gucci, on the other hand, focuses on classic leather trainers for girls in white or gold with elegant details.
