LOOKING FOR A DESIGNER BABY PAJAMAS?

Infants spend most of their time in their baby pajamas: In the first few weeks of life, a baby sleeps 16 to 18 hours a day. Even 20 hours of sleep is not unusual for newborns. At six months, the amount of sleep they get is reduced to around 14 hours, but even in their second year, your baby still spends an average of 13 hours sleeping each day. It is therefore important that your little darling feels completely comfortable in their bed. The right clothing is particularly important: After all, comfortable baby pajamas are a prerequisite for restful sleep. And not only that - they even help to find a good sleep rhythm.

Since the little ones spend most of their time in bed anyway, many parents ask themselves whether baby pajamas are even necessary. After all, babies usually wear comfortable rompers or pants and tops made of soft, stretchy fabric all day long. So why change the baby for the night? It's simple: Changing the baby in the evening is an important part of the bedtime ritual. In the first four to six months, your child develops his or her sleep rhythm. This time is crucial for whether and how well your little darling gets used to fixed sleeping times. You can support him or her by making a clear difference between day and night clear to your baby. This includes, for example, not completely darkening the room during the day, but at night. Fixed rituals also support development. And also having your own clothes for bedtime. A nice, comfortable pajama for the baby signals to him or her when you put it on: Now it's time to go to bed. This can help him or her to sleep better. These rituals also help to develop a fixed sleep rhythm:

  • Evening bath
  • Changing diapers before bedtime
  • Baby massage in the evening
  • Reading aloud to fall asleep
  • Lullabies in bed
  • Good night kiss

Pajamas for babies in the first three to six months of life are often one-pieces. There is a simple reason for this: the cut means the garment cannot slip. The baby is always completely wrapped up warm. In addition, no wrinkles can form because the top, for example, shifts. This is important so that there are no painful pressure points. In the first twelve months of life, babies should ideally sleep on their backs. According to pediatricians, this position reduces the risk of "sudden infant death syndrome" (SIDS). This is why a baby's pajamas are usually most comfortable when they are buttoned at the front or side rather than on the back. This way, the buttons do not press when sleeping. Many models are fastened with very thin snap fasteners anyway, which minimize the risk of pressure points.

In high-quality baby pajamas, the position of the buttons is therefore not so important - and the designers have more freedom for design. For example, baby pajamas that are buttoned at the neck can be decorated with large prints and beautiful motifs at the front, such as some models from Gucci . Most baby pajamas can also be opened at the crotch and legs. This is very important, as small babies often have to be changed at night. The buttons in the diaper area allow you to change the diaper without having to undress your baby completely. Well-known brands such as Tartine and Chocolate or boss Therefore, they equip their baby pajamas with snap fasteners on the legs.

How do you find the right pajamas for your baby?

A problem that almost all parents are familiar with: especially at night, little ones kick their socks off their feet. Baby pajamas with sewn-on feet therefore have a decisive advantage, especially for the first few months of life: nothing can get lost and little feet always stay warm. However, it is particularly important to pay attention to the right size with such one-pieces: so that the spine can develop properly, the baby pajamas must not be too small. Your baby must be able to stretch, the fabric must not be tight. If in doubt, choose a size larger. But be careful: the garment should not be too big either, otherwise the baby's arms and feet could slip out and get tangled in the fabric.

If your baby has very large feet compared to their body size, pajamas without sewn-on feet may be a better choice. If the foot part is too short, the toes will curl up, which is not ideal for growth. Some parents find it more comfortable to put two-piece pajamas on their baby. The pants can simply be pulled down for changing. The advantage: if something goes wrong, pajama pants are easier to change than one-piece baby pajamas. Two-piece models also usually fit a little longer and the baby does not grow out of them quite as quickly. It is up to you which version you prefer. It is important that the pants have a soft waistband that does not press or pinch on the tummy.

Which designer baby pajamas for which season?

As with all other clothing, the warmer the season, the thinner the fabric. In summer, baby pajamas made of soft cotton jersey are a good choice. In autumn and winter, however, thicker fabrics such as cuddly velour fabric are warmer. The right quality is always crucial: high-quality baby nightwear is made of skin-friendly fabrics and has a high cotton content. Models with short arms and legs like those from Carrement Beau are recommended for particularly hot days. It is important that your baby does not overheat in their pajamas. You can easily check whether your little one is sweating by looking at their neck: if it feels hot and damp, the little one is too warm and you should put something lighter on them. Cold hands or feet, on the other hand, are not a reliable sign that the baby is cold. Which baby pajamas are perfect for you depends on other factors. For example, if your baby sleeps in a thick sleeping bag, the pajamas underneath can be a little thinner. A long-sleeved bodysuit or tights under the suit also provide warmth. The room temperature also plays a role: 16 to 18 degrees is the ideal temperature for the baby's bedroom. When your baby gets bigger, it may be time for a change of style: from around one year old, there are also very nice pajamas for babies made of light cotton in the classic pajama look with a collar and patch pockets. Your little one will feel great in the pretty pieces from Steiff already makes you feel like a grown-up. Embroidery and delicate colors make the pajamas real favorites.
